In a tiny civilization made by bugs, they have found a way to use magic flowers as a source of renewable energy. These flowers power and fuel the city of Beetlesburg and put it on the map as a major tourist attraction for anyone that visits.
Take a tour with your buggy tour guide as they take you on an adventure exploring the energy generation process that has given them the opportunity to thrive as a tiny city. Have fun while you search for the right paper for your projects with this bright colorful booklet of samples for the Mohawk Curious Collection.
Paper sample books provide an effective way for customers to find the right paper they need for all their printing needs. Anyone who prints things often understand the importance of the texture, color, and thickness when trying to show the personality of your product/brand without saying it out right. For this project, I was given the task to choose a paper company and use one of their collections to create a sample book. The collection I chose comes from Mohawk, a paper company based in New York.
The paper sample book will act as a brochure to bring in tourists interested in Beetlesburg's magic flower. The booklet takes the customer through a story about how these flowers power and fuel the majority of the city and gives the history of the explorer that discovered the flower many years ago. As the customer goes through, they have the ability to experience that paper's thickness, color quality, and texture. Die cuts and fold outs are used throughout to enhance this experience as well.
Mohawk's Curious Collection is described as "paper for the senses". With its bright colors and array of textures and weights, it is the perfect paper to create a meaningful experience. I designed a cover for the paper samples, inspired by Mohawk's current paper sample kit covers, with a cohesive color palette and illustrations to offer a sneak peek of what the customer has in store for them.
With the use of botanical doodles and line drawings of buildings, the city of Beetlesburg is introduced. The cover shows how the plants and city structures are all connected creating the electric glow that keeps everything in the town running. The title is written in script with a bug in the "O" of flower to symbolize the locals.
The spreads alternate showing full color pages and black pages with green illustrations and text. This is to make the greens in the paper collection pop off the page while still showing the full range that Mohawk offers. It also shows just how bright and happy the town of Beetlesburg is.
